A not uninteresting tale centered on an Italian boy’s relationship with a Jewish girl and her family during WWII, and the impact of this connection with the American-born daughter of the Italian, who emigrates after the War.  She goes back to Italy to investigate a deed found in her dead father’s possessions only to discover that the property in question originally belonged to the Jewish family. The story keeps up interest and suspense in spite of the clumsy addition of a love entanglement between  the daughter with an Italian lawyer from her father’s hometown. [4/08]
